Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiology in the paediatric population is a relatively new and evolving field that supports the prevention, assessment and management of chronic conditions, disabilities and diseases that affect a young persons’s health. By studying the physiological mechanisms underlying these conditions, our Playfit Therapy exercise physiologists can develop evidence-based interventions and guidelines to best support overall health and well-being.

Regular activity and movement has been proven to effectively support heart and lung development, muscle strength and endurance, motor skill performance and immune health. It can also have a positive impact on cognitive function, psychosocial development and emotional regulation. At Playfit Therapy our team of expert exercise physiologists have the skills to facilitate both individual and group based sessions targeted at developing a young person’s skill acquisition, confidence, self-esteem, social skills and relationships amongst peers.
